What is Cardano?
Cardano is a proof-of-stake layer-1 blockchain that settles transactions through the Ouroboros consensus protocol. Smart contracts run in the Plutus environment using an extended UTXO model, and the network is developed by three founding entities (IOG, Emurgo, and the Cardano Foundation) under formal peer-reviewed methods. ADA is the native asset used for staking and fees.
