What is Winter Walrus?
Winter Walrus is a liquid staking standard on Sui for the Walrus decentralized storage network's WAL token. Users stake WAL through delegated validators on a two-week epoch cycle and receive a fungible LST — wWAL or one of several partner LSTs like upWAL, mWAL, and pWAL — that earns native staking rewards while staying usable across Sui DeFi. A built-in transmute function lets holders convert any partner LST to wWAL for instant liquidity, while custody of the underlying StakedWAL stays on-chain in a shared object.
